From Cudos To Place

R.K.Merton is a representative in studying science with sociological theory and method. After investigating the reality that science study is refrained from social facts, Ziman presents a study paradigm of post-academic science reflecting the relation between science and society. As far as the difference between them is concerned, we find that there still aren't any kinds of systematic comb about it in the academic circles at present. We should study the new thought of Ziman both in theory and in practice. During the transformation of science from academic to post-academic, Ziman holds that Merton-paradigm has also had a fundamental change, which is the core of academic science. After dispelling five principles of Merton-paradigm, Ziman presents a new norm of Ziman-paradigm in his post-academic science. During this course, he expounds his thought of science studies richly, and forms a new paradigm in science studies. There lies essential difference between the two science views. For understanding Ziman's thought of science studies thoroughly, pursuing the root of his theory, we should research his naturalism opinion of science and question it's philosophy foundation. These two paradigms are the product of different background of science, society and their relation. Ziman-paradigm provides not only a naturalism way studying science, but also a science that is comprehensible and acceptable for the public.
