Objective To investigate the effect of different light-dark cycles on locomotor activity , total and differential leukocyte count in peripheral blood as well as serum IgG concentration in mice. This study will give evidences for further researches on the light effect on organism behavior and immune system. Moreover, our researches will contribute to further studies on the relationship between light and biorhythms of the organism behavior and immune system in choronobiology. Methods 144 ICR mice were divided into three groups. Duringsix weeks the mice were exposed to one of three light-dark cycles regimes: LD7/7(7h light /7h dark),LD12/12(12h light /12h dark),LD16/16(16h light /16h dark). Blood samples were attained by enucleation of eye at 4 h intervals for total and differential leukocyte count as well as serum levels of IgG determined by enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay. Another nine mice were also divided intothree groups and their activities were recorded continuously and analyzed by computer. Results First, locomotor activity , total and differential leukocytecount as well as serum level of IgG in mice were distinct with different light-dark cycles except for acidophile and monocyte count .Second, locomotor activity rhythm in mice was synchronized to all three different light-dark cycles while total and differential leukocyte count as well as IgG rhythm wasn't synchronized to the light -dark cycles except LD12/12 .Conclusions First, different light-dark cycles could influenceWBC count and differential blood count as well as serum IgG concentrations except for acidophile and monocyte count. Second, locomotor activity rhythm in mice can be entrained to all three different light-dark cycles while total and differential leukocyte count as well as IgG rhythm couldn't be entrained to light-dark cycles correspondingly except LD12/12.
