Water supply network geographic information system is the main application of GIS in the water supply industry. The main goal of building water supply network GIS is to realize the digital management of it, to offer plentiful information for its planning, designing and constructing, and to provide reliable basis for the operation and the decision-making. As a result, it will improve the management level of water supply industry and reduce the cost of it.Pipe burst happens a lot in the urban water supply system, and the repair work should not be ignored. The cost of this accident will be reduced to the lowest if we reduce the repair time and lessen the water cut range. As a result, analysis of pipe burst is one of the most important spatial analysis functions. Its effective realization consists of three aspects: the high quality data, the topological relation of data and the algorithm. But the existing system has not done so well or realizes those three aspects at the same time, which leads to the wrong result and meaninglessness to the guidance of the repair work.According the requirement of the system and the analysis of pipe burst and the characteristics of the water supply data, this paper makes some innovations to some extension of the three aspects mentioned before: at first, designs a digitizing data module that is water supply industry oriented. It leads into the connectivity rules and the professional norm, which ensures the quality of data and finishes the first step data preparation. Secondly, brings forward the concept of "pipe segment" when describing the logical network, and establishes the topological relation of it. On the basis of data organization, makes the consistency checking of pipe network based on graph model and topological constraint, which is needed for the data quality control. Finally, presents the pipe burst algorithm and its implementation, by which we can find out the correct and economical scheme, eliminates the valves that don't have to be turned off and lists out the influenced users.This method applies in the "Ke La Ma Yi Water Supply Network Geographic Information System" and successfully realizes the analysis of pipe burst. And the result is correct and highly efficient, which proves the validity and feasibility of the method proposed in this paper.
