This paper deals with fault-tolerant control and guaranteed-cost control for a class of uncertain descriptor systems with state time-delay. In order to control the systems effectively, the corresponding control law is constructed based on Lyapunov stability theory and by using linear matrix inequality . This paper is organized as follows:In chapter 1, the background, the development of the theory and recent research achievements of descriptor systems are introduced respectively, and also fault-tolerant control and guaranteed-cost control are introduced respectively. The fundamental knowledge of descriptor systems is introduced. Some definitions , theorems and lemmas which will be used later are presented in chapter 2.In chapter 3, for the given uncertain descriptor systems with state time-delay, the problem of designing static output feedback controller with the property of guaranteed cost is presented. In the light of the linear matrix inequality approach, a sufficient condition for the existence of the feedback controller is obtained, and an upper bound of performance index is given, too. The simulation results demonstrate the validity of this method. In chapter 4, for the descriptor systems, both fault tolerant control and guaranteed cost control are taken into account, when a certain of actuator failure occurs, the control law constructed will make the closed-loop descriptor systems be robust stable, and also an upper bound of performance index is obtained. A sufficient condition under which the systems will be robust stable is gained. In chapter 5, the problem of designing a fault tolerant guaranteed cost control law which has the property of intrgrity is disscussed. For any case of actuator failures, the control law will guarantee the close-loop systems to be robust stable. A sufficient condition under which the existence of the control law is aussured is given.
