With the fast development of economy and increasingly serious energy problem, energy-conservation becomes a more attention-getting focus. Currently, the state-of-art technology of energy recovery has been applied into process industry in order to get the highest efficiency all over the world. Therefore, the research on technology of fluid energy recovery and relative equipment has become hot one during recent years. The rotary pressure exchanger based on the positive displacement principle was studied after the analysis and comparison of various technology and equipments in the paper. The research work with SWRO as its applied background was carried through experiments and theoretically computerized and results could be summarized as following:(1) An experiment model of energy recovery equipment of Plus-Drived Rotary Pressure Exchanger (PD-RPE) was designed and set up which was based on the experimental result of fluid-drived equipment.(2) The PD-RPE energy recovery system with SWRO as engineering background was designed and set up. The pressure and flux signal could be put into computer and recorded automatically.(3) The end face seal and leakage were studied under the different working conditions of pressure, flux and rotor speed.(4) The fluid pressure energy recovery experiments were done and the recovery efficiency was evaluated. At the same time the possible parameters which could effect recovery efficiency were experimental analyzed.(5) The mixing process between high pressure and low pressure fluid was experimental studied. The mixture ratio was computerized on the basis of experiment results. The experimental results show that the end face between rotor and end-cover is the most key parameter which directly affects the recovery efficiency. The largest end-face leakage was 11.8%, and the highest outlet pressure was 1.35MPa with mixture ratio was 12% and recovery efficiency was constant above 60%. Under the condition of equal inlet flux the efficiency was 53.5%.The PD-RPE enengy recovery model which first designed and built in this paper is still during the experimentative period. The research work in this paper was initial study at home which could provide valuable data and experiences for further work in the future.
