We summarize the observational properties and theoretical models of blazar,introduce the multi-wave band properties of blazar detailedly, and sum up the basal theory of blazar roundly in this paper.There are five chapters in this thesis altogether. Chaper one briefly introduces the defined characters, taxonomy and significance of active galactic nuclei(AGNs)o Then we introduce the energy mechanism and standard scheme of AGNs. In the second chapter we mainly present the basic observational properties,including the variability properties, polarization properties , radio structure and superluminal motion of blazars. We have especially detailedly introduced the definitions and classification of variability and the restriction and functions of variability to active galactic nuclei(AGNs). In chapter three we review the element theoretical models of blazar,which include the SSC model,the relativistic jet model,the unify scheme and the evolution model of blazar. Chapter four we mainly introduce the multi-wave band properties of blazar. At first, we in detail present the spectral characters of every band,and then analyse the basic spectral character of balzai—the spectrum having two peaks. Finally we summarize all the models used to explain the second peak of the spectrum. In addition, we sum up the statistical properties of the spectrum of blazar.In the last chapter,the two jobs done by me in the last three years are introduced. The first work is about polarization of balzar and the second work is the comparison of the infrared properties of HBLs,LBLs and FSRQs and we think that there are some essential differences between HBLs and LBLs.
