Web-based Geocoding Service

Geocoding is a process to build the corresponding relationship between the entity and its coordinates. As the core of Geocoding Service Software System, gazetteer supplies the unique code for all kinds of address and coordinates, it is the bridge between data and entity.But anyhow, due to the chaos in the address system in our country, the Geocoding service function given by many GIS Softwares is limited. All the input for geocoding searching should be specified in fixed format. Therefore, it narrows the availability and accessibility in the process of searching, also, the veracity in the matching process is impaired.According to the reality, after the intensive analyze of geocoding technology and to increase the veracity of address matching, this paper implememnts the process based on multi-information cross mcmatching and weighted results regarding the address context, and analyzing the pre-results produced by the system. Which includes:(1) Analyzing and judging the entity target with the help of Lexicon technology and Database technology, which allows to separate the input text into smallest information unit with geographic information.(2) Designing the databases containing address, zip codes, phoning area code, IP codes, ID codes, and cell-phone numbers, which are integrated in a single database with key fields.(3) Analyzing multiple weighted results given by matching process, and confirming which one is the right one.(4) Implementing the project in the way of Web developing, with the technology of Web form, IE toolbar and Web Service, which also could be accessed in various ways.This paper is based on the project called National Dynamic Atlas, which was assigned by National Surveying and Mapping Bureau, and those source code quoted in this paper comes directly from the project.
