The 3DCM(three dimension city modeling) is hotspot of digital photogrammetry, computer vision, GIS and other correlation study. On the basis of reviewing the current research status of 3DCM, based on multi-resource information, this paper chooses the single vision data as main topic of 3DCM, and carries through comprehensive and systemic study from theory to practice. The main works are presented as follows:1. The theory and algorithm of edge detection are analyzed and studied. Aimed at the application to extract the 3D building automatically or semi-automatically, we try to search for a new effective thought of edge feature extraction, which according with human vision perception process.2. The theory and method is discussed for the semi-automatic acquisition of 3D building based on monocular image processing. This paper focuses on the approach to reconstruct buildings from a single close-range image without the control condition.3. Considering three dimensions data features, constructed object-oriented data structure and model. Utilizing object-oriented relation database technology, better solved operations of image information. Meta-data database built, provided a convenience, regular index to manage huge data.4. The traditional aviation photograph surveying is to establish stereo image pairs in order to realize 3D measurement. However, sometimes the images from figure camera can not establish the stereo image pairs. Therefore, it's necessary to make use of single image to proceed building's 3D measurement. According to three upright edge lines inside general buildings on the photograph join in the three vanishing points, we can find a solution to get the opposite coordination of each outline of building.5. Combining digital close-range photogrammetry and OpenGL, used Visual Basic under Windows operation system to develop a city-building 3D landscapesystem, which uses object-oriented program idea to guide software analysis, design and realization. It is more advanced and practicable.
