The stability of a network composed of nodes and links is of prime importance to network designers. Thus, it is desirable that networks be constructed to be as stable as possible, not only with respect to the initial disruption, but also with respect to the possible reconfiguration of the network after disruption. Many graph theoretical parameters have been used to describe the stability of network, such as integrity, toughness, cority, but they don't take into account what remains after graph is disconnected. In 1995, tenacity was introduced by Cozzen to cope with this difficulty. This paper studies the theory of tenacity and its application to traffic network. The main contents and results are as follows:1. Study and obtain some special theory of tenacity such as complete graph, star graph, complete bipartite graph, grids and torl of complete graph, the range of value of the tenacity, the structures of the tenacity and network graph.2. Discuss the tenacity of a certain kind of graph.3. Introduces the basic knowledge of intersection in traffic network.4. Analyze and study the traffic network system by using the optimal theory of the tenacity.
