According to reservoir geological and development's character no. 2+3 sand group ofthe upper of ES2 oil recovery in Pu Cheng oil field, based on the early study of flow unitby others, a set of methodology for flow unit recognition, correlation, classification, prediction (modeling), evaluation and its application in the remaining oil prediction andimproved oil recovery is founded, which gives a new way for mature oil field improvingits recovery. The study makes it clear that such characters as facies, micro-structures,barriers and baffles, and flow unit distribution. Through the reservoir developmentanalysis, reservoir numerical simulation, the remaining oil distribution is discussed, whichmakes it possible for improving the reservoir development. Main achievements of thisstudy are summarized as following:1 Through high-resolution correlation, the reservoir is subdivided into 19 layers(short term cycles), which makes heterogeneities more clear, and makes it possible toimprove recovery of some sand bodies.2 Using the neural network and the property distribution, a program is designed toexplain the property of the reservoir, and k and Ф are calculated for each layer of allwells using this program.3 The probability chat is introduced into the fluid flow unit classification. Using K,Kh,Фh, the classification standard is established and 4 kinds of unit are recognized.4 Reservoir architecture analysis method, threshold method and 3-D modeling areused to establish the reservoir flow unit model. Based on the flow unit distribution, thereservoir is estimated and 4 kinds of layer with different flow unit contents.5 Through the reservoir development analysis, reservoir numerical simulation, theremaining oil distribution is predicted, which is mainly in such areas as P and F flow unitwith poor fluid flow ability, positive micro-structure location and near the faults whichholds up fluid flowing.6 A set of method for flow unit characterization, modeling, estimation and itsapplication to improving reservoir development is founded.
