As the targets of seismic exploration change from lithological exploration toreservoir predetectivity and description, it is urgent to meet the need of improvingdrilling accuracy and developing recovery efficiency. By using the different feature ofP-wave and S-wave traveling in the layer of oil &gas and the rich information ofwavefield, combination exploration of P-wave and S-wave has shown a good prospectin the area of geologic interpretation of layer containing oil & gas. So the technologyof multi-wave and multicomponent has already become a new focus followed thetechnology of prestack depth migration. For the wavefield acquired in conventional P-wave has only single wayinformation, the answer is always uncertain or multiple value by using thisinformation to interprete lithology and hydrocarbon, but it has more accuracy whenusing combined information of p-wave and s-wave to do so because of the increasingof the information. The point above has already been well proved by the fact ofmulti-wave exploration throughout the world. This paper is about the research on multiwave processing technology based onmulti-wave seismic data acquired in the land field containing gas in China, and thepurpose of this research is to fit seismic result to meet geologic interpretation. The main content of this paper is C-wave(converted wave) processingtechnology and its applications. The first part is about the developing process andthe recent states of multi-wave;The second part is about the basic principle ofmulti-wave exploration and the principle is also the fundamental of C-waveprocessing, so started from the basic concept of multi-wave, the part simplyintroduces the orientation and energy character and the theory of C-wave imaging. The third part states the special methods of C-wave processing that are the methods ofhorizontal component rotation, CCP(common converted point) rebin, C-wave staticsand data scaling of C-wave to P-wave. The last part of this paper analyses theapplication of the special methods of C-wave processing through the processing of the3D-3C seismic land data in China. It is shown that the application of C-wave processing technologies is successfulin this area and the technologies are feasible by the result of geologic interpretationusing the 3D-3C seismic methods.
