Based on investigating and consulting some materials involved in geological hazards at home and abroad, and according to the present situation of Fengtai, lots of data about the geological hazards are collected, and geological hazards database of Fengtai is built. Visual Basic6. 0 and MapObjects developed by ESRI are used to develop geological hazards forecasting and evaluating informational system of Fengtai (FTGHIS), which can input, manage, query and edit, and also has the function of making reporting and printing. The system not only manages data of geological hazards dynamically, but also has built the link between the spatial location and attribute data by its strong function of GIS managing spatial database. Three modules, which include evaluating hazardous level, evaluating the growing degree of geological hazards, evaluating and forecasting the trend of geological hazards, are used to evaluate the perilous level, the growing hazardous degree and to forecast the trend of geological hazards. Besides, different areas of geological hazards have been divided. Especially, the subsidence caused by coal mining has been forecast by the way of probability integral. Moreover, with the application of Object Linking and Embedding (OLE), the system can draw subsidence contours and predictal results can be visualized quickly. Finally, according to hazardous situation of Fengtai, some corresponding countermeasures are taken for prevention.
