The baryon is of fundamental interest to quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and its application. Until we learn how to use QCD rigorously to compute hadron properties, particularly in low-energy (hence nonperturbative) regime, we must cope with the "QCD-inspired" models. One of the most successful examples of these imperfect constructs is constituent quark model, in which the gluonic degrees of freedom are replaced by effective potential. At present, a large amount of experimental data on the masses of ground and excited states of baryons has been accumulated. By comparing theoretical predictions with experimental data, we can obtain valuable information about the form of quark-quark interaction potentials. Such information is of great practical interest, since recently it is impossible to get the quark-quark interaction potentials in the whole range of distance with the first principle of QCD. In this region it is necessary to account for non-perturbative effects connected with the complicated structure of QCD vacuum. All of these lead to theoretical uncertain about the quark-quark interaction potentials at intermediate and large distances. The Cornell potential is used widely as phenomenological potential and takes great success in explaining the heavy quarkonium properties. The problem is how to consider the relativistic corrections to this potential. Adopting the assumption that the quark interactions are the sum of the usual one-gluon exchange and the mixture of linear scalar and vector potentials, we can construct the relativistic corrections of order 1/m~2 to the Cornell potential, and it has been recently developed in the...
