Heat radiation is concerned with gestation and evolution of earthquake, so it is possible that scouting abnormity of surface temperature by remote sensing can predict strong earthquake. For to seek abnormity of surface temperature before earthquake from short-term or long-term trend of surface temperature transformation, in this paper, we studied surface temperature abnormity phenomena of 4 representative earthquakes: Ms7.8 earthquake of Oct. 08, 2005 in Pakistan, Ms7.9 earthquake of Sep. 27, 2003 in common boundary of china, Russia and Mongolia, Ms7.1 earthquake of Nov. 19, 1996 in Hetian of Sinkiang, Ms8.7 earthquake of Dec. 26, 2004 in Indonesia. In course of data processing, we developed software that can process AMSU/FY-2C/MTSAT-1R data stored in HDF. Here are the results:1. Analyzing the temperature-time sequences of epifocal areas was pivot of this research, every earthquake's epifocal area was scanned in small windows, and good result was achieved. It's a new try and the innovation of the research that AMSU data were contrasted with AVHRR data.2. In this research, with reference, every epifocal area's tectonic background was extracted from remote sensing data. It shows more that there is consanguineous relationship between zonal distributing of temperature abnormity and distributing of faults. Result more approves that abnormity of surface temperature before earthquake detected by thermal infrared or microwave remote sensing was short-term, because it appeared within 3 moths before earthquake.3. What we discovered was not consistent with results of previous researches: there was consanguineous relationship between special distributing of temperature abnormity and distributing of faults, temperature abnormity sections were not large-scale, and there wasn't...
