26Al (T1/2=7.2×105 a) is one of the important radio nuclides generated by cosmic ray interaction with argon in earth's atmosphere and silicon in rocks. It has been widely used in the fields of cosmography physics, geophysical studies, biomedical research and nuclear physics. The character of AMS technique is that the atoms of radioisotopes can be detected directly, so AMS has the advantage of high sensitivity, smaller quantities and shorter measurement time. High sensitivity measurement of 26Al by AMS is the base of the application of 26Al.The goal of my work is to develop a high sensitivity method of 26Al with HI-13 tandem AMS facility. AMS measurements of 26Al can be performed by extracting either Al- or molecular AlO- negative ions. Extracting Al- from the ion source was widely used in many AMS lab, the reason is that there is no isobar 26Mg, because Mg does not form stable negative ions. However, the beam current is limited by extracting Al-negative ions. Extracting A1O- ion's beam current is 40 times higher than extracting Al- ion. Complications arise since stable MgO- ions are also...
