Holocene is a period that it had close relationship with mankind. Environmental evolution is an essential part of "Past Global Changes" (PAGES).It is very important to find the regulation of Holocene climatic variations for understanding current geographic environment and its development. Determination of the age of climatic variations and its locality is especially important matter. Luminescence dating has great potential.Luochuan plateau is well known as a geology section in the world. It is important to have a detailed age sequence of the stratums of Heilu soil. The work is useful to research the global environmental evolution of Holocene. The main objects of the luminescence dating are sediments containing the minerals such as feldspar and quartz. This will be dating the sample of Heilu soil. There are four techniques of TL dating have been used in this paper. Research and discuss which one is the best have been done. The experiment prove that coarse-technology is the better way of TL dating and established a age sequence of Heilu soil. The interval has been achieve at millenary- scale. The result indicated that the stratums of Heilu soil occurred 10000 b. p and finished 3000 b. p. Its deposition rate is not uniform. In early and mature stages the deposition rate is slowly but quickly in late stage.Moreover, I did some research work in the dating method and the TL characteristic of some minerals. At the same time, I have calibrated the irradiating system of Optical Luminescence Laboratory.
