Study On The Methods Of Predicting Reservoir Bank Collapse In The Three Gorges Areas

The reservoir bank collapse is a significant geological disaster which affects the Three Gorges reservoir. For many years, few people set foot in this engineering field. And there are not many researches in this area. At present, domestic and foreign research on collapses mainly concentrate on the common soil bank, less research findings to the stability of bank slope of the mountainous area' reservoir. Active methods of reservoir bank collapse prediction are only applicable to the plain area, but bad to the Three Gorges reservoir which is at the mountainous and river valley area. It's abnormally predominant in geo-hazard prevention work of Three Gorges reservoir in the second and third period. Therefore, it's in dare need of striking up a reservoir bank collapse prediction method system for the Three Gorges reservoir. Through field investigation and inside analysis and calculation, this article has made some deep research systematically in this domain, obtained some main achievement as follows:1. Based on the survey of the present status, bank slope shape and the structure type, the pattern of collapses destruction, the characteristic of collapses distribution, the prediction parameter of collapses in Three Gorges areas have been analyzed and generalized systemically. And the geological condition research of the Three Gorges reservoir has been developed. It provides geological foundation for the methods of the predicting reservoir bank collapse.2. In order to study a prediction method to fit for the Three Gorges reservoir collapse, it carries on physical analogue research of collapse, and finally summarized a Multiple Regression Method based on physical analogue.3. It was found that quite a lot of branch bank slope in The Three Gorges areas belonged to the broken line bank slope in the course of investigation.
