At present, it is still a significant approach to discover novel lead compounds for searching bioactive compounds from natural resources. It is also an important part in natural products research to seek marine-derived bioactive natural products. Marine microorganisms have been proved to be rich sources of bioactive natural products, is becoming an interesting area for its special advantages in the New Chemical Entites (NCEs) research and development. This study focuses on marine fungi strain M-118, and antitumor active natural compounds were isolated and identified from its fermentation broths with the mean of bioassay-guided isolation. Strain M-118 is identified as Paecilomyces sp., by Wang-Lin, which is isolated from Tong'an Gulf sediment. Several preparative experiments are performed before the procedure adopted for the isolation of compounds ATW1 and ATW2 is established. The supernatant of strain M-118 is extracted with EtOAc and the crude extracts is isolated and purified by VLC, Gel silica LC and HPLC with the means of bioassay-guided isolation. Two bioactive natural compounds, ATW1 and ATW2, were prepared with above methods. Although M-118 strain shows weak antibacterial and antifungal activities, no corresponding compounds were obtained.
