Artificial life algorithm (ALA) is a new optimization method, its algorithm principle simple and the optimized performance is good. The algorithm optimized thought originates from the artificial life concept, uses the bottom -up design method, and uses the emergent colonization to realize the optimization.The present paper first introduces the formation and development of the artificial life research, as well as some basic concept, theory and method. In the summary foundation, the artificial life optimization algorithm design and realization method have carried on the detailed elaboration and discussion. The main content of paper includes the following: Firstly making the detailed elaboration to the artificial life algorithm design uses the false code form to carry on the description to the artificial life individual behavior process. Secondly carry on the test using some classics standard test functions to the algorithm, the simulation result indicated the artificial life algorithm has the good optimized effect in the function optimization question. Thirdly in view of the optimization process randomness of the artificial life algorithm, each kind of parameter carries on continuously to the algorithm in seeking many times superiorly, then anglicizing the multi- groups of date to enture the nature of various parameters. Fourthly introduction the concept of neighborhood contraction speed, definite algorithm neighborhood contraction speed.
