On the basis of Landsat-TM remote sensing image as the basic data sources, RS and GIS Technology, and with the comprehensive utilization of Physical Geography,Resources Economics, Landscape Ecology, sustainable Development Theory and GIS Theory, this paper puts forward the dynamic monitoring and analysis on the Xingluo District's land use and cover. It also adopts the vague mathematical theory to part the incentive of change of land use in Xingluo District for the further definition. It bears a certain kind of scientific significance and application prospects , which supplys the advice for the local construction of the ecological environment for the purpose of social sustainable development, to take the remote sensing monitor in the mountain area with the combination of TM data as the main data sources with other methods. The research mainly includes the following aspects: 1. to build up the Xingluo District Land use remote sensing monitoring classification system in view of the TM image features of the mine and mountain area. 2.processing of remote sensing imagery and gathering of remote sensing information of land use. 3.analysis on the features of land use 4. analysis on landscape pattern of land use. 5.analysis on incentive of land use /cover change.6.the countermeasures for the sustainable development of land use.
