Mount Taishan Global Geopark is located in TaiAn city, Shangdong Province. Mount Taishan has abundant geologic remains, especially famed for its Precambrian geological evolution, Neotectonic Movementand and palaeontological fossils, etc. It is a natural geological museum with gigantic geological value.With the development of IT, GIS and database, the applied Information System based on GIS, tourists oriented has been grown more and more maturely. This kind of system takes GIS software as platform. It can store varied map data, graphic data and multimedia information exactly. With the capability of spatial operation, special map management, this system can provide information query and display the abundant query results directly. It can offer platform for Tourism managers to making decision.According to many reference, this thesis discusses the development model of GIS, and point out a GIS scheme of Geopark information which aim at the common problems in building Geopark Information. Taking Mount Taishan Global Geopark for example, aiming at the tourism's practical needs, Mount Taishan Tourism GIS has been designed detailedly and accomplished basically.Considering the requirement of both managers and tourists adequately, Mount Taishan Tourism GIS adopt hybrid Software Architecture of C/S and B/S. This system using Visual Basic and MapObjects component in client, and using ArcIMS as Web application server software, and SQL server 2000 database. Using ArcSDE as interspace , different clients can share and mutual operate efficiently after eliminating the differences among vary flat roofs.The functions such as query and search, special analysis and multimedia revelation has been realized by the system. The system can provide information for all kinds of management of Geopark. It also can improve scientificalness and democratization of decisions, and achieve geological relic standardization.Tour information can be issued prompt and in time by the system, so that information canbe obtained by tourists.
