The Exploration Of The Ancient Dushan Jade Application

Being one of the most famous jade, Dushan jade has a long utilization history for about 7000 years. To study the ancient Dushan jade we can understand the Dushan Jade cultural characteristics and development of value, and open up the application of Dushan Jade field.This article mainly studies the discovery, application and the craft characteristic of the ancient Dushan jade ,and so on. The article briefly introduced the ancient Dushan jade culture historical development, and made the ancient Dushan jade craft characteristic and the mineralogy characteristic as the emphases. We gathered some specimens from the Nanyang Huangshan ruins. And we carried on the conventional mineralogy test and X-Ray. We found that the ancient black Dushan jade's refractive index is1.57-1.58, density is 2.86-2.87 and hardness is 6-6.5.The ancient black Dushan jade has a block structure, and an inequable grain texture. In the microscope optical observation it has a straight boundary between the grains. The alteration extent is higher. There is a majority of tremolite and a small quantity of anorthite in the black ancient Dushan jade. The structure and texture of Dushan jade affect its characters like transparence et. We study the black jade, the results show that the content, the alteration extent and the fissures of anorthite are the controlling factor of Dushan jade's transparence.In the ancient times it was very hard to look for the Dushan jade deposit for the ancients. It was time-consuming, troublesome and unsafe to exploit the Dushan jade. And the jade which was exploited was small. It was destructive to the jade resources.In the Neolithic, the tools to carve the Dushan jade are mainly the stone wimble and the quartz polishing. The process of making the ancient Dushan jade manufactures is mainly to experience the selection, hitting, cutting and polishing.The specimen of making the marble bangle was found in the Huangshan ruins. It is the first time to show the process of making bangle in the Neolithic. It has filled to a blank of the history of jade carving.We must reasonably use the Dushan jade resources and make more people to know and protect the Dushan jade.
