At the request of UNESCO, with the cooperation of concerned departments, Asia part of World Ground Resource Map scaled 1:25,000,000 was drawn by studying the Hydrogeological Map of Asia and Groundwater Resource Map of China. The map is based on the Hydrogeological Map of Asia. Geoprocessing function module of Arcgis software was used to do the projection conversion, and convert all the referenced maps into Robinson projection. And then cartography generalization was carried out by using selection method and generalization method to get a more laconic and readable map.The UNESCO's Intergovernmental Programme for the International Hydrological Programme IHP-VI activities work out the International Shared Aquifer Resource Management (ISARM). The trans-boundary aquifers would be summarized and demarcated. The countries with shared groundwarer resources are promoted for cooperation. And the sustainable usage of transboundary aquifers would come true. Transboundary aquifers, as parts of groundwater resource systems, are important for related Asian countries. There are several transboundary aquifers, which concern two or more countries in Asia. There are concomitances with rivers passing through several countries, such as Mekong River, Ganges Rivers and Heilongjiang-Amur River. 12 important transboundary aquifers in Asia were summarized based on Asia part of World Groundwater Resource Map. Furthermore, a case study on Middle Heilongjiang-Amur river Basin which is shared by China and Russia was carried out. The purpose of the pilot case study is to contribute to the ISRAM-Asia as first contribution and to promote the ISRAM-Asia Network headed by China.
