Quaternary red clay is widely distributed in Eolian sediment area of the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River. Generally, its standard profile is including roof loess layer, typical Red Earth, Vermicular Red Earth and gravel deposits. Because of the different degrees of eroding, the roof loess layer is sometimes disappeared. The typical Red Earth is usually in brown-red or dark red color, and have the homogeneous color. In the bottom of the typical Red Earth layer, we can usually see some ferromanganese film and nodules. Vermicular Red Earth is usually composed with dark bedrock and yellow or white stripe. In the top of Gravel deposits is, sometimes, appear the vermicular styles. In recent decade, along with the research of Global Change go deeply, the Quaternary red clay research have reached a great success, especially in cause of formation, age, geomagnetism, patient climate and the relationship with the global environment change. Along with the research go deeply, we realized that the Quaternary red clay could help us to research the Quaternary environments change, the rise of Qinghai- Tibet Plato, eastern monsoon et.The scientists do not stop to study the Quaternary red clay. But there are some dissensions and problems have not resolved, because of the Quaternary red clay's special characters. Consider of these facts, we have to find some new ways to go on our study work. The ferromanganese nodules are the offspring of environment, and they must have memorized many information of environment when they outgrow. Through the study of these ferromanganese nodules, we want to translate the information of the Quaternary red clay have memorized. In order to study the characters of ferromanganese nodules, we choose Xuancheng section in Anhui province, Tangxi and Pujiang section in Zhejiang province, Jiujiang section in Jiangxi province, Changsha section in Hunan province...
