The scarcity of fresh water has become the key restriction factor of economic development in the areas around Bohai Sea. But the largest water resource near it is sea water which can not be used indirectly. There is a large scope of sea ice in Bohai Sea in every winter. Salt separation from sea ice in freezing process results in lower salinity in sea ice, which may become a resolution to the water shortage problem in these areas. This research is the creative initiation of scientific research personnel. It is a method of using sea water indirectly and has Chinese Characteristic. The results are original innovation.During the formation of sea ice, the liquid brine should drain out into the underlying water from the sea ice structure. However, the process is limited by the very fast rate of sea ice formation which due to the abrupt drops of air temperature, some liquid brine has no enough time to drain out. As a result, the liquid brain is trapped with the sea ice structure to form so-called brain pocket. Sea ice is composed of polygonal ice crystal, brain pocket, air pocket and a bit of solid impurities. It is mixture and has salinity. The paper studied on the desalination of sea ice and sea ice melt-water by slight-melting and integrated membrane respectively. For slight-melting desalination, keeping the experimental temperature a little higher than the sea ice'melting point and with the sea ice absorbing the heat, brine pockets become bigger and as a result, they become brine channels. The liquid pocket can drain out, then the sea ice can be desalted. In this paper, using sea ice in Bohai Sea as raw ice, under a certain slight-melt temperature, the variation of salinity of sea ice, the quality and salinity of drop water from sea ice over time was investigated. The paper also studied the variation of sea ice temperature during the slight-melting process. Single factor and orthogonal factor-levels experiment were made to study the effect of temperature, time and angle to sea ice salt rejection. The experimental results showed that when slight-melt temperature was 2.0℃, the angle of sea ice placed was 180°and slight-melt time was 20h, the maximum salt rejection of sea ice is 81.38%. The moving pattern of sea ice in the slight-melting process was also explored. For sea ice melt-water desalination, based on the results of quality analysis, the UF-RO integrated membrane system was adopted to treat the melt-water of sea ice. UF was used to remove the suspended particles, microorganisms and colloids in the...
