Z-scan method for the testing of two-photo absorption (TPA) cross section in organic solution material has been studied theoretically and experimentally in the thesis. Two-photo absorption material is very interested by material and chemical scientists since their foreseeable and broad application field. Research on two-photo absorption material with large TPA cross section and study of TPA cross section testing method are the hotspot in current science.Several kinds of TPA cross section testing method have been introduced in the thesis. The factor of organic solution and optical parameter of Z-scan method for organic solution material TPA cross section measure have been studied basically on the theory of TPA and theory of Z-scan technique. Testing of TPA cross section for Rhodamine B solution in methanol with Z-scan method has been studied experimentally with femtosecond pulse laser which is the product of Spectra Physics Company of USA. The TPA cross section result of our experiment fits very well to the one written in literature.Besides, beam size of laser has been measured in the method of Knife-edge. Waist radius of optical lens for the experiment has been tested basically on the theory of Gaussian Beam Transmission. Close aperture Z-scan and thick sample Z-scan have also been studied experimentally in the thesis.
