Global Positioning System (GPS) is a sophisticated satellite navigation and positioning system.GPS timing system as a worldwide all-weather navigation systemmilitary and civilian navigation in the increasingly important role.In addition to GPS, the Russian GLONASS and Europe's Galileo system,and what merits special mention is that China's own satellite positioning system - "Beidou" has begun to take shape.However, GPS is the world's most perfect, the most widely used satellite navigation and positioning system.SOPC(System On Programmable Chip) is the most popular conception in the electronic design field. Niosâ…¡is a RISC CPU soft core designed by Altera provided with pipeline technology and SIMD. It can be embedded in FPGA,integrated with user-defined logic,to build a system on chip based on Niosâ…¡. Compared with embedded hard core,soft core is more flexible,and the high-speed characteristic of FPGA deviceexactly meets the time request of GPS system.This paper makes an in-depth study to each step's of GPS receive process,selects feasible algorithms to fit the features of Niosâ…¡embedded CPU,and optimizes the algorithm,finally presents a design plan about GPS receiver system based on SOPC.Content of the paper mainly include:1. Analyze the generation and structure of GPS system,and discuss C/A code and P code pertinency,then analyse the process of GPS singal receive process,and present corresponding IP design.2. By using Niosâ…¡CPU soft core and peripheral equipment IP cores provided adapt to GPS receiver,build a SOPC system,and present a hardware design plan based on SOPC.3. Using Niosâ…¡development kit,make a software design to calculate the navigation data, complete the software portion of SOPC system,and give the simulation in Modelsim.This thesis has two innovations:apply SOPC to GPS receiver system for the first time and put forward the corresponding design;Furthermore,by means of increasing or replacing the IP cores of signal tracking ,the system can increase its receiving capability or receive multiform navigation signals at the same time,such as GLONASS and GPS system.Experimentations proved that the system design plan presented by this paper is practicable. GPS receive system based on FPGA has particular advantages of speed,power, area and expansibility,and has widely development space in future.
