The character of airport buildings are large square and it also covers a lot of geologic or engineering-geologic cells. The complicated geologic conditions make the south-west part of China been the most engineering geologic problems area. Compare with the other constructions, the airport has different characters and highly requirement.The 80% area of Kunming Xiaoshao airport was covered by medium-strongly developed karst. The visible karst was mainly shown as depressions, and the invisible karst was also shown as strongly karst erosion belt, the stability on different thickness of backfills conditions is a key problem when exploring the whole area. Meanwhile, according to the widely distributed Quaternary layer, the press by thick backfills also can make the it's settlements become different and sometimes becomes huge. So the mainly engineering geologic problems were: the stability of karst and the stability of backfills and the settlements of Quaternary layer. The most important problem of this three is the stability of karst, and only deeply recognized the geologic condition of airport area, then we can know about the conformation, system and activity of the karst.Though a long time field investigation and based on the research of field's geologic condition, the writer of this paper generalized the character of karst's development, and evaluated it.
