Hilbert Transform is an all-pass filter essentially and an important method of signal processing. Generalized Hilbert Transform (GHT) is also windows Hilbert Transform (HT). GHT is an effective method of edge detection, which is applied in lithologic character identification, fracture detection etc. However, nobody analyses the affecting factor in this problem.Denoising and fracture detection are the interested problem of geologist and reservoir engineering specialist in the seismic data processing. The philosophy, derivation and realization of the HT and the GHT are introduced in the paper. Given the basic characteristic of the fracture medium, fracture detection method is built to analyse the affecting factor of error about the GHT, and to find the best parameters. Edge detection effect of the GHT is verified in the simulation experiment. GHT is applied in the image processing. People and flower pictures are choosen to detected and the effect is good. Finally, GHT is applied to seismic data processing and the effect is good as well.The result of research indicates that it is feasible to detect edge based on GHT. And GHT has the merits of simple algorithm,fast operation,and parallel running, has prospect of popularizing and applying. GHT algorithm is easy, computation speed is high and is easily realized. GHT is worth to applied to seismic field.
