Landslide is one of the most popular geologic disasters, 60% of which are caused by raining. China is a mountainous country. Landslide is occurred frequently every rainy season in almost all the provinces. The research of mechanism of raining badgering land sliding is hot spot of academe and engineering area, still it is a problem which is hard to solve.Ningzhen Region is the area which occurred landslide frequently in Jiangsu province, most of which are caused by raining. This result has close relation to the Xiashu Loess in this area. Xiashu Loess has particular geologic characteristics. It makes great difference when it is dry or wet because of the existence of suction, so that stability of Xiashu Loess landslide is allergic to raining. It focused on the research of stability forecast of Xiashu Loess landslide before, but on the affect and organism of that.In this paper, through the research of characteristic and soil-water characteristic and analyzed landslide characteristic and mechanism of Xiashu Loess landslide in Ningzhen Region. In order to research the suction affect to the stability of Xiashu Loess landslide and its mechanism. I have made following research:1. Through the on spot measure of suction Xiashu Loess landslide, I got the soil-water characteristic curve. Depending on that curve, I got the saturation water capacity and remnant water capacity of Xiashu Loess landslide. Then I set up the strength module of Xiashu Loess according to the comparable capacity, depending on the strength parameter of Xiashu Loess through testing.2. through the measuring suction on the top of Xiashu Loess landslide, I make sure the impact depth of atmosphere.3. I use the strength module to test the landislide, which makes sure the reliability of the module. The suction characteristics of Xiashu Loess landslide and strength module provide the reliable theoretic according as fot he designing and working of Xiashu Loess landslide.
