Fault activity of DONGYING-HUIMIN depression mainly presented in Tertiary, and the activity not only controlled distribution space of petroleum and formations of traps but also had an important effect on hydrocarbon accumulation, formation and distribution of large reservoir.Based on structural geometry of Palaeogene fault in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression, activities feature of fault formed in SHAHEJIE and DONGYING period were researched. Activities feature of I , II ,III order of fault in middle stage of Es3, early stage of ES2-ES3, early stage of Es1-Es2 and Ed stage were introduced clearly in the paper. The intensity and scope of fault activity in SHAHEJIE and DONGYING period in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression were definite, integrated with samples, the effects of fault activities on hydrocarbon accumulation and reservoir destroy were analyzed. Consequently, the results guided hydrocarbon exploration further.Structural sequences of Paleogene in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression could be divided into three orders. According to scales and structures of fault, the faults in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression could be divided into four orders. Based on quantitative structure analysis and balanced cross-section technology, the plane and vertical association of faults had been studied.Using the methods of faults drop, activity intensity of growth fault of Paleogene in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression was studied. The results of research were as follow: there were 18 fault belts comprised by major faults presented in DONGYING-HUIMIN depression, among which there were 10 fault belts presented in DONGYING depression and there were 8 fault belts presented in HUIMIN depression. The fault activities were characterized by episode. There were as much as 45 faults were active during early time of SHASAN period in DONGYING depression, but there were as much as 32 faults were active during SHASAN periodin HUIMIN depression.Fault activities controlled formation, development and evolution of the basin, infilling procession and infilling style of the basin, development and space distribution of sedimentary systems of the basin.
