Design And Development Of Tourism Geographical Information System Based On WebGIS

Abstract Tourism Geographical Information System(TGIS) is a multimedia information system obtaining, storing, managing, transferring, analyzing and applying tourism geographical information, which is the outcome of geographical information system applied to tourism. TGIS reflects different space objects of geospace human being rely on in computer in the digital form. It can manage space data effectively, display the geographical space information, provide users accurate information counseling service and provide management department the needed information to decision-making. The construction of existing information-based tour beauty spot is very unsubstantial in our country. According to the Internet inquiring, we find that many beauty spots are lack of matching tourism information service platform based on WebGIS, which makes tourists unable to acquire information counseling service via the Internet. The beauty spots lose Internet as a global publicizing platform. The information intercommunion between tourists and tourism management department will also become slack for the lack of Internet's support. So it is of great practical significance and market application prospect.This paper's research work can be divided into three parts as follows:1.Construction of system platform. In this part, we discuss the software and hardware environment and the software system configuration of server and client after the research of WebGIS's characters, architecture, structure model and implementing technology. Some technologies used in the system development process are also being discussed, including ASENET, Map Xtreme2005 and Oracle Spatial 9i.2. Design and development of prototyping system. General design and database design will be made from different angles----common tourists and tourism management department. Then we will finish the prototyping system development on the basis of general design.3. Analysis of WebGIS's performance. We analyze the factor affecting WebGIS's performance and discuss some techniques which can improve the WebGIS's performance. In the end, we'll introduce how to improve system capability. TGIS based on WebGIS provide visible tourism geographical information service to vast tourists and accurate information to tourism management department to decision-making. Besides, TGIS based on WebGIS is also a very excellent platform for tourism products' popularization, propaganda and the development and construction of tourism commerce website.
