The atmospheric precipitable water vapor is an important meteorological parameter. The accuracy quantity of water vapor is needed in many spatial remote sensing revise. Then input this parameter into numerical forecasting pattern and will effectively improve the middle criterion of atmospheric forecast.In recent years, with the precision improvement of satellite detector, the using of atmospheric precipitable water vapor obtained by satellite remote sensing data has been great developed. This paper used the MODIS atmospheric precipitable water vapor in Nanjing area to analyse its time change and build the correlation analysis between the MODIS atmospheric precipitable water vapor and meteorological data on the ground, in order to confirm the feasible application of MODIS atmospheric water vapor in Nanjing area for further application and improvement.The main content of this article are as follows:(1)Through the comparison of different computational and obtaining methods of the quantity of atmospheric water vapor, choosing the MODIS near-infrared water vapor product data for research. Then analyzing the changing tendency of water vapor according to different time criterion.(2)Through establishing the correlation between MODIS near-infrared water vapor and the ground meteorological data to study the influence of them.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) MODIS atmospheric water vapor in Nanjing area has obvious seasonal variation tendency, generally the quantity of water vapor is low in spring, with the gradually rising of temperature, the quantity of water vapor also rises monthly by monthly, arrives at the maximum value in summer, starts to drop from autumn, then reaches the minimum value in winter.(2) MODIS atmospheric water vapor in Nanjing area has certain correlation with temperature, air pressure, relative humidity and sunlight time, and also has a very good instruction to the precipitation occurrence.
