Most of the animals living in Xinjiang are unique, for its especial locality and rigorous environment. Many Peculiar animals in China can only be seen in Xinjiang. Wild Camelus bactrianus and Ranodon sibiricus are two representative species of the wild peculiar animals in Xinjiang.Wild Camelus bactrianus survives only in Xinjiang and the west border of China and Mongolia, where they declined greatly in range and numbers during the past century because of excessive hunting. Now, it has been a world endangered species. It is important to research the molecular phylogeny of Wild Camelus bactrianus, for it will not only help to solve the dispute about classification of Wild Camelus bactrianus, but also help to direct the heredity and breeding on the molecular level. The phylogeny of Camelus bactrianus was reconstructed, using cytochrome b (Cyt b) gene as a molecular marker. The result showed the existent Camelus bactrianus could be distinguished into two populations, Xinjiang population and Gansu population. The genetic distances between the two populations were 2.4%~3.0%, not enough to reach the species level. Altunshan wild Camelus bactrianus belongs to the Xinjiang population, but should not be treated as a distinct species.Ranodon sibiricus, belonging to the family Hynobiidae, is a small caudate amphibian species. This species lives in a narrow area in northwestern Xinjiang in China, and in southern Kazakhstan and is an age-old relic endangered species. The molecular research of Ranodon sibiricus would add understanding of the phylogenetic relationships among the ten caudate families and the origin of Lissamphibians. The phylogeny research on 4 different populations of Ranodon Sibiricus based on control region (D-loop) of mitochondrial gene. The result shows little nucleotide substitution does exist among these four living groups and the diversification of Ranodon sibiricus might be a neoteric event. This study will provide molecular basic data for molecule phylogeny of Camelus bactrianus and Ranodon sibiricus.
