In this paper, the conception of hollow atoms was shown, there were an explanation of the significance of study on hollow atoms, and a review of past and present research on the topic being investigated. The theories of calculating probabilities of radiative transition, single Auger transition, double Auger transition,shake-up processes,shake-off processes, correlated decay of two vacancies in atoms were displayed(presented). The radiative-Auger-double Auger cascade model(RACDA)constituted by us and other theories of research on decays of hollow atoms were interpreted in detail. The radiative-single Auger - double Auger cascade model was applied to study the de-excitation process of Ar+(1s-1)hollow argor ions with single K-vacancy and Ar+(2s-1)hollow argor ions with single L-vacancy ions Mg1+(ls-1)hollow magnesium ions with single K-vacancy and Mg2+(1s-2)with double K-vacancy.Simultaneity,the final-charge-state distribution in the production of them were calculated, and comparing with the previous calculations and experiments, our results showed an excellent agreement with the existing experiments. Finally,a advice on how to calculate probabilities of one-step-de-excitation process of hollow atoms more accurately was given, the question about study on correlated decay of three vacancies in atoms was presented, the insufficiency of the present theories of research on decays of hollow atoms was mentioned.
