Academic innovation is the ultimate goal of disciplines and sacred mission, at same timeit also is life of disciplines. Academic innovation is the academic source of motivation. Thedriving mechanism of academic innovation resides in the establishment of academicinstitutionalization. Therefore, A study on academic institutionalization can better reveal thedriving mechanism of academic innovation. A detailed analysis on the institutionalization ofthe modern geology in China can reveal the relation between the institutionalization of themodern geology in China and knowledge increase. We can educe some successful factors by adetailed research on the scientific issues, so we accelerate the development of the moderngeology in China.Based on the data collection, comprehensive study on relative literature, systematicanalysis, comparison study and a research on relative theory at home and abroad,occupational scientists, academic institutions, academic independent are thought as the indexof academic institutionalization. On the one hand, a differentiated study on theinstitutionalization of the modern geology in China let us identify the characteristics in eachperiod; on the other hand, A continuous research on modern geology in China can concludethe regularity between the institutionalization of the modern geology in China and knowledge.This papers is mainly divided into five parts:The first chapter integrate the theoretical research at home and abroad and describe thesignificance and innovation of this paper. This chapter focuses on the concept and the indexesof academic institutionalization. We divide the institutionalization of the modern geology intothree phases and describe the each feature in order to supply a theoretical basis for later study.We elaborate on three detailed process of the institutionalization of the modern geologyin China by studying on the rise of geological education, constantly increase of geologicalinstitutionalization and the increasing conditions of the geological knowledge from the secondchapter to the fourth chapter, and analyze the characteristics of various periods in order toexplore out the laws and development trends.Base on gauging the indexes of the institutionalization of the modern geology in China inChapter five, we make a continuous research on modern geology in China, and we believethat it is positively correlative between the institutionalization of the modern geology in China and knowledge. On the other hand, we can educe some successful factors and get some ideasfrom the macro level, the micro level, comparison study between China and the westerncountries in order to establish the best driving mechanism of the institutionalization of themodern geology in China.We believe that the institutionalization of the modern geology in China greatly promotethe development of geology, and social power system and the independence of geology is animportant power. Social power system greatly promote the development of geology from themacro level, while the independence of geology promote the development of geology from themicro level. These two forces promote and coordinate each other in constant interaction, andpromote the increase of the geological knowledge.Academic innovation of this paper is to propose unsolved problem—a study on theinstitutionalization of the modern Geology in China. this paper analyses on theinstitutionalization of the modern Geology in China by quantitative research methods, andbroaden the research realm.
