New generation of GPS is based on metrology,utilizes the statistic property and economical lever effect of uncertainty to optimize the resource distribution.By using non-ideal surface model and the operation and operator technology based on duality,the problem of unified mathematics expression in the course of"function description,specification and verification"was resolved.The new generation of GPS revolutionized the simplistic notion of tolerance zones which based on geometry.it is one of international basis standards in the filed of manufacturing industry, it is designed as the means of communication in which designers, production engineers and metrologists exchange unambiguous information concerning the functional requirements of products.Now, how to popularize the new GPS is a important problem worth researching into deeply.After collecting and reading a lot of articles about GPS,this paper briefly introduced the evolution of GPS and it's research work,and then laid emphasis on analysing it's basic theories, new concepts and the standard system.after that this paper presents a mode of integration between GPS and CAX.Further more,this paper put forward a plan of integrating the fuction of CAD and the standard information of GPS,which can reach the goal of designing the geometrical product by computer with GPS.According necessary requirement analysis,this paper brought forward a scheme of GPS application system,and analysed the architecture,function module and data stream,and then according to the new GPS's basic concepts and theories,designed each fuction module farther.Based on the theories of invariance class in new GPS,this paper put forward a originality method of feature modeling,analysed the corresponding relationship between invariance class and geometrical tolerance, and then the data organization of the feature modeling was researched.This paper also analysed the principium of feature operations, and shows great emphasis on the research of the arithmetic and the forming process of specification surface model and verification surface model.At the end,using the VC++6.0 as the tool,a test system of GPS application system was developed based on ACIS 3D Geometric Modeler,taking roundness as an example,the process of specification and verification was demonstrated in the test system.
