| The art of quantum state engineering, i.e., the ability to generate, transmit, and mea-sure quantum systems is of great importance in the field of quantum information tech-nology. This thesis presents the analytical results of the generation and detection of the biphoton qutrit states by linear optics. First, the generation of the 4 mutually un-biased bases qutrit states based on biphotons is studied. Our results show that the lin-ear optics method can be used to generate the 4 mutually unbiased basis qutrit states probabilistically. Second, we propose to explore the linear optics method to realize the simultaneous dection of the qutrit states which form a complete basis. In such a mea-surement setup, analytical results show that every state in two of the bases, namely only half of the 4 mutually unbiased bases qutrit states can be identified with certainty. |
