By means of the predictor-corrector methods of linear multi-step methods, thispaper investigate the numerical solution of the initial value problem of ordinarydifferential equations, the actual error through theHamming predictor-corrector solve the initial value problem. And improve the localtruncation error of the Hamming predictor-corrector method. We investigate the originof the Hamming predictor-corrector method, improved the local truncation error ofthe Hamming method from order 5 to order 6. And the stability and compatibility ofthe improved Hamming method have been proved. The feasibility of the new methodhave been confirmed by the numerical experiments. Then the results of the Hammingpredictor-corrector method and the improved Hamming method have been comparedby the numerical experiments, it has been proved that the improved Hammingmethods have smaller error than the Hamming method.
