Study on micro-percolation is very important for acquiring characteristics of reservoir. At present, the main technologies on studying micro-construction of reservoir are CT and BSE imaging both of which take a great cost, and they are not readily available on practice. Therefore, it is necessary to introducing a speedy and high quality method to construct digital core and corresponding pore networks by computer and mathematics methods, and it will set a firm basis for all subsequent works. Therefore, technologies of construction of digital core are very important not only for science but also for practice. The main purpose of this paper is to develop a complete theory on reconstructing digital core by 3D process modeling. First of all, essential data, including grain size distribution, porosity, the amount of quartz cement and clay contents and texture, are acquired from image analysis of thin section images of sandstone. Then, digital cores and the corresponding pore-space are constructed by sedimentation, compaction and diagenesis theory. In the end, digital cores are analyzed quantitatively by using local porosity distributions and local percolation probability. Theory about 3D process modeling of sandstones is established, not only a computer program is completed, but also the images of digital cores and pore-space are visualized as well.
