Coring tools and technology develop with the need of geology. The essential of oriented coring technique is to recover the real state of coring. The oriented coring techniques can get all the orientation of the fractures, it is an important means to get the strikes, dips and dip angles. To provide reliable oriented cores, we must make deep research on oriented coring techniques, including the oriented coring method, tools and arts, to satisfy the need of geological production and research.This paper has made study and estimated the feasibility of developing oriented coring technology. Based on analysis on the oriented coring technology of other country and homeland, the paper develops the oriented coring tools, and the calibration error of outer barrel is tested. According to survey tools working properties and the oriented coring tools, the procedure of oriented coring is made.Base on these developments, combined actual oriented coring experiments on"SLCORE-I", the paper makes a point of summing up the results. And provides the design of oriented coring tools can make a important prospect in future.Also, coring bit is one of the most important designs. According to the application effect in the"SLCORE-I", the paper carries out the lab study of whirl-proof coring bit, and it raises some new points to help develop the whirl-proof coring bit.
