The Precambrian banded iron formation (BIF) is one of the most important iron ore deposit type in our Country, whose reserves, orefield and output all hold the first place. ShanXi province WuTai area has a lot of BIF, and is one of the most important orefield of iron ore. Exploiting and studying the iron deposit in this area have lasted for several tens of years, however, these exploiting and studying are more emphasize on high grade deposit and researching low-grade iron deposit is vacant. Along with iron ore resource is more and more strained in recent year, prospecting the low grade, big, easy to exploit iron mineral deposit have already being become a hotspot. Thus strengthening the region's iron ore deposit research is particularly important.Precambrian strata are widely distributed in Wutai area and have a lot of ferreous layers. All ferrosilicon formations are occurrence in WuTai group, Juya group tholeiite series lave formation and detrital sedimentary formation, which called Jingangku ferreous formation, Bozhiyan ferreous formation and Wenxi ferreous formation on stratum.Through the careful geological investigation, the author find out that Wangjiazhuang iron deposit is hosted in upside of Jingangku Formation, the shape of the orebody is instability, and obviously experienced reformations and destruction by later tectonic movement. Orebody is in conformable contact with the wall rock. Orebody and wall rock had a clear margin.The major ferreous mineral in ore is magnetite and major gangue mineral is quartz. Ore has obvious banded structure, but the band isn't zone, and developed rumpled structures. Under microscopy, magnetite band has a thickening trend in the turn end of fold, which consistent with the distribution form of orebody.Major element and REE character indicate that ocean environment is original depositional environment, and initial rock is basic to mafic-intermediate volcanic rocks. Ferreous layers are formed during the volcanic dormant period. After the original ferreous layers formed, metamorphism played the most important role in the formation of ore Deposit. Study on metallogenetic mechanism suggested that the deposit is controlled by stratum, structure, metamorphism, and geophysical prospecting condition. If one area has four condition hereinbefore, it will become the key locality of our prospecting.
