A detection of sea surface physical state with mobile X band dual polarization Doppler weather radar has been used. The major contents and conclusions are presented as follows:In chapter one, the development of polarization Doppler radar at home and abroad, the purpose of this research are given. The principle, system performance, the main physical parameters measuring air hydrometeors and polarization radar products of dual polarization dopper weather radar are introduced in chapter two. Then in chapter three, the feasibility of radar detecting sea surface is analyzed. the detecting capability of dual polarization Doppler weather radar is computed from radar meteorological equation.By the detailed analysis of the case in chapter four, we use the radar echo data acquired by mobile X band dual polarization Doppler weather radar in Bohai Bay during the snow occurred on sea surface on April 1st, 2004 to do some study work. The characteristics of snow and snow mixed with sea clutter are analyzed. the quality control of data is processed according to the thresholds of Z and ZDR in the radar beam at the lower elevation. And the results show that the tide has some influence on sea surface echo when the wind is unchangeable. The threshold of Z and ZDR keeps 25—35 dBz and -1—1.5dB, the shape of radar echo turned anticlockwise. In chapter five, we come to a conclusion for this paper, and the next study direction is discussed.
