Reflection and refraction of the electromagnetic wave on the interface between two mediums is applied representative example of electromagnetic law. Some conclusions will be reached such as the existence of half - wave loss and cause how Brewster angle forms and the law of the complete inner reflection. These basic laws of electromagnetics are fairly significant to direct the development of information technology and communication technology.Based on introducing Fresnel's Formula, the work of this paper is focused on studying the phase jump when electromagnetic wave is reflected at the interface of medium. The major research aspects are as follows.Firstly, Fresnel's formula is derived.It is founded on electromagnetic fields theory fundamentals,boundary condition and law of reflection and refraction.It clearly pointed out the amplitude relation and the phase relation of p and s components.Secondly, qualitative analysis about the reflected light's phase jump is studied when the light transmits at the interface between two mediums and two interfaces of one medium layer. The results show that the reflected light's phase jump of each component is connected with the refractive index and the angle of incidence. During qualitative analyzing,it is only considered to influence the phase jump that the sign changes of each component in Fresnel's formula,not the change of amplitude.So the result can't reflect the phase jump of the reflected light's whole vector.Then quantitative analysis about the reflected light's phase jump is studied when the light transmits at the interface between two mediums and two interfaces of one medium layer.We work out the electricity vector's mathematics expression of reflected light,refracted light and incident light.This study has made it clear that the relationship of the phase jump and the refractive index,the angle of incidence and the azimuth. The relationship of the extra phase jump in symmetrical film interference and each quantity is discussed in detail.Finally, based on the simulation results above, the condition is brought out to produce the half-wave loss and the extra phase jump in symmetrical film interference.
