With the quickly development of electronics industry, Electrostatic discharge more and more dangerous to various microelectronic devices which has become one of the instantly resolving important technological questions, in the current national economic and development of society. This paper puts forward the investigation results of the air electrostatic discharge through experimental method, by using the ESD electromagnetic field test system which can improve reproducibility. By analyzing the data of the parameters, we get some rules about the air electrostatic discharge. On this basis, we study the effects of electrostatic discharge on typical electronic devices with experimental method. Major elements are as follows:For improving the reproducibility of air electrostatic discharge, the measure system is made up of measuring set of ESD current waveform stipulated in IEC61000-4-2, and the device which can auto-control the speed of discharge electrode is close to target. We have seen about some important parameters: the approach of speed, the peak value of discharge current, the rising time of discharge current and the peak-to-peak of coupling voltage. By comprehensive analyzing the results of measurement, we have gotten some rules about the air electrostatic discharge and the influence of these parameters to the electrostatic discharge radiate flied.In order to go on effect experiment, we design the SCM system with the function of failure reappearance and examination. We made the ESD EMP effects experiments, and measured the sensitive discharge voltages of some typical failure of SCM system. Through analyzing the relation with the failure of system and the method of ESD simulator discharge to coupling plate and system placing method, we elementarily summarize some rules about the coupling of ESD and typical electronic devices. On this basis we probe into the protection of ESD disturbance in electronic devices and equipment.
