As an important industrial mineral raw material, sericite has excellent physical and chemical properties, and be widely used in papermaking, ceramics, paints, rubber, cosmetics and other industrial fields. Polymer / sericite Nano-composites can meet various needs of multi-level not only through maximizing sericite's fine attributes, but also through adding new features and overcoming some negative factors of its own. It is an important way to improve the value and achieve high-end applications of sericite, and also the most promising direction for further development. But the structure of sericite is very stable, remaining negative charge between mica layer equivalents to 1, the K+ can not be changed by other cation, and it is not very easy to prepare the PLS Nano-composite materials as vermiculite and montmorillonite. So we should firstly activate the sericite before the polymer intercalation experiment to make the Al-up be replaced easily, thereby reducing the total negative charge of sericite, making the K+ be changed by other cation, and then prepared for the PLS Nano-composites.Based on the research of sericite activated,the main conclusions are drawn as follows:(1) The activation of sericite could be improved by means of heat treatment. The best condition for roasting is 800℃, and the holding time is one hour. At this point, the acid leaching of aluminum of sericite is about ten times of raw materials.(2) Mechanical activation could change the stable structure in some extent, however, the activated degree is lower. the best activation results of sericite achieves when the slurry concentration remains at 40%, the amount of dispersant remains at 0.7%, the ball material ratio remains at 5:1, the speed remains at 1000 r/min, and the polishing time remains at 5 hours. At this point, the acid leaching of aluminum of sericite is about four times of raw materials.(3) Mechanical activation combined with heat treatment to activate sericite, the effect of combining two demonstrates a similar effect to the simple heat activation. At this point, the acid leaching of aluminum of sericite is about ten times of raw materials.(4) compared with the three kinds activation ways,the heat activation is the best way.The best conditions are 800℃of ignition temperature, and one hour of holding time.
