The world is essentially non-linear. Non-linear science is interdisciplinary comprehensive, marginal and cross-discipline, which is designed to reveal the common nature, the basic characteristics and change laws of non-linear systems.Wavelet analysis is one of the advanced technologies of non-linear science, with time-frequency local property and multi-scale analytical capability. Based on regional variables theory and taking variation function as the main tool, Geostatistics is a science designed to study the variable with both random and structural characteristics or space-related and dependence. Fractal is an important tool for the study of nonlinear. It is designed to research the non-linear process in the natural and provides us a brand new concept and method to describe the complex phenomenon of nature. From a certain point of view that the climate system has multi-time and multi-spatial characteristics ,multi-level structure, fractal characteristics , based on wavelet analysis theory, Geostatistics theory and fractal theory, the author analysis the temperature, the precipitation and the air humidity data series of 50 years (1959-2006) , to reveal the regional climate non-linear characteristics. This paper is divided into six chapters.Chapter I first discussed the background and significance of this research, then summarizes recent study results of related fields including the temporal and spatial variability of climate patterns, multi-time-scale structure of the climate, Fractal analysis of climate, based on these, the goal of this research is put forward. The second chapter focused on description of the study area, the choice and source of the research data, then put forward the research methodology and technical route.Based on the wavelet decomposition and reconstruction method, Chapter III analysis climate data series on different time scales, in order to reveals the change law and trend of the climate of the Tarim River Basin. Based on a wide range of choices of wavelet functions , the author found that we should choose Symmlet wavelet—sym8 and decide to do the study on three time scales ,S4(16 years), S3(8 years) and S2(4 years).Supported by the GIS technical and based on the Geostatistics theory and Mann-Kendall statistical test method, Chapter IV analysis the temporal and spatial distribution of the temperature, the precipitation and the air humidity in the Tarim River basin.Supported by the GIS technical and based on the fractal theory, the phase-space embedded theorem and the Geostatistics theory, Chapter V calculate the the fractal dimension of the temperature, the precipitation and the air humidity in the Tarim River basin., then process the spatial interpolation of the fractal dimension , in order to reveal the fractal characteristics of the climate in the Tarim River Basin. In chapter VI, the research results are concluded. Furthermore, future researches are discussed, too.
