X-ray Emission From The Highly Charged Ar¹⁷⁺ Ion In The Interaction With Metal Surface

The K x-rays emitted from the incident slow highly charged Ar¹⁷⁺ions are measured in the interaction with various metal target,such as Be,Al,Ni,Mo and Au. The K_β/K_αratios and the average energies of these emitted x-rays are measured,it is found that the K_β/K_αratios and the average energies are almost independent of the ion's velocity and the kind of the target.Meanwhile,a model based on(1)the capture of the conductive-electron and(2)the cascading de-excitation model,is proposed to explain the experimental results,excellent agreement are found between the theoratical results and the experimental data.
