This paper gives a systematic introduction to the variation sources analysis in continuous quality improvement model. Based on the detailed introduction to the nesting and crossing model of variation sources analysis, the statistical rules of the common model are addressed. Furthermore, through the discussion of statistical model of the Multi-Vari Analysis(MVA), three confidence intervals of the variance components toward three different variation sources and some reasonable sampling schemes are constructed. In the end, this paper presented the modified control chart and relating examples which is fit for the MVA.The following has been studied in this paper:(1) The common method of variation sources analysis, including the qualitative and quantitative analytical method is discussed. The effect of variation sources analysis in continuous quality improvement model is presented.(2) The statistical method of the nesting and crossing model of variation sources analysis has also been discussed. Some examples is given to illustrate the practical purpose in quality management and then the statistical and analytical rules of the common model are addressed.(3) The statistical model of MVA is given and three confidence intervals are constructed toward three different variation sources. Computer simulation and a graphic procedure are used to illustrate the relationship between the sample size and the interval length directly. In the end, some reasonable sampling schemes which enhance the accuracy of the estimation of different variation sources are proposed.(4) Based on the study of the traditional Shewhart control chart and the MVA model, the modified control chart limit is presented which enhances the effectiveness and the accuracy of the control of the main variation sources.
