Studies on microfluidic analysis systems have undergone a rapid development due to its advantages of short analysis time, low consumption, miniaturization, automation and integration. In recent years, magnetism techniques have been coupled to microfluidic systems to achieve sorting, separation, trapping, transportation, manipulation and mixing in applications on biology, medicine, chemistry, and physics. Microfluidic chip-based DNA extraction systems utilizing magnetic beads have also been reported. However, most of these systems use complicated structures. In the first chapter, the application of magnetic materials in microfluidic analysis system was reviewed. In the second chapter, a microfluidic DNA extraction system was developed based on magnetic beads in a capillary. This system has the advantages of simple structure and ease of operation without the need of any micro fabrication equipment or technique. The present system was applied in the extraction of DNA from blood.
